Every Harley Davidson Rider knows where to get good pie!
I love this time of year. Thanksgiving with family and friends. My favorite part is enjoying some of the best pies a person can get. Our F.A.I.T.H. Riders Biker ministry at Hermitage Hills has a slogan, “We eat to ride and ride to eat”. That is especially true when we are riding to get some pie. Many times, the location of the ride is decided on where can we get the best pie, or catfish, or Mexican, or fried anything. I love spending time with people, enjoying the conversations, hearing their stories, discovering their unique gifts, and hearing how God is using them.
This Thanksgiving holiday, let me encourage you to not only enjoy the “pie” but the people you will be engaging. Our lives are so busy, so over calendared, and so full of “important” meetings and events. Let me encourage you to slow down long enough to have a piece of pie with someone you care for and love. Go a little deeper with them in “doing life together”. God did not create us to be alone. We are all wired to experience the thrills and challenges of life together.
So, I’m going to be very intentional in the next few days. In fact, I’m committing myself to complete the following “Life-Giving” task:
- I’m going to light up the Big Green Egg this Thursday. Smoke a turkey for my family to enjoy.
- Spend the time laughing, loving, and learning about how special every person is to God and to myself.
- Take the time to listen more than speaking.
- Allow the Lord to refresh and renew my spirit through the one’s I love the most. My family!
What will you do in the next 7 days? Who will you be with? How will you engage this opportunity? Can you slow down long enough to enjoy the “pie”?
Let me know how you’re going to spend Thanksgiving. I’m going to slow down long enough to enjoy the “pie” and challenge myself to truly keep the main thing, the main thing.
Happy Thanksgiving!
